the last thing
I want to do
is break with you

you gave me love
you gave me touch
you made me feel

that I did not have
to be alone in the world
or in my head

aloneness can foster discovery
aloneness can provide purpose
aloneness can shape destiny

but it is mostly about not sharing
that which has to be shared
before it whithers, fades and dies

lost to its present
oblivious to its past
unbeknownst to its future

a straggling sentiment
on an uneven path
to places that have never existed

– and probably never will.
