Was it against your will

that I still

made a pass at you

hoping that we could do

what you might want to too

in that innocent passion that was once ours?

You were moving towards me, even if uncertainly

I was moving towards you, ambitiously

Yes, I retreated at your resistance

I backed off at your insistence

but guilt I still sense.

even now, when the photographs of our courtship have long since faded.

Am I a prisoner of contemporary discourse?

Am I a predator despite myself?

Am I reading too many newspapers?

Should I surrender to the authorities?

Should I prepare for extended incarceration?

Should I ready myself for Me-Two Prison?
